If the custom bike scene has taught us anything over the years, it’s that one size definitely doesn't fit all. Even if it did, we’d rally against the status quo anyway. The Mutt Carve Your Own Path series digs a little deeper into the people within the Mutt fold. A peak behind the curtain into what makes the Mutt collective so diverse, interesting and fun in equal measure. This month we’re shining a light on the custom bike we recently built for Reggie Yates.
You might know of Reggie from his extensive career in front of the camera. From presenting music awards and children’s television shows, to acting in dramas and hosting popular radio shows, Reggie is anything but your average presenter. A multi award winning documentary maker, Reggie is also a successful film writer too and by all accounts an unstoppable force in the industry.
In between that crazy schedule Reggie made time to make a few trips up to Mutt HQ to discuss his perfect bespoke Mutt. He wanted something a little different from your regular off-the-shelf motorcycle, something he could fling around the traffic in central London, but without being cumbersome and awkward to handle - the custom Mutt 250 we built Reggie was just the answer.
Benny sat down with Reggie to run through a full creative collaboration on the bike design. Together they pulled in the components that were essential to Reggie, and left out or tweaked those that weren’t. The result was a fierce little hellcat of a 250 that’s literally dripping in black stealthiness with a bunch of individual touches like that tail light concealed in the rear frame, a seat hand fashioned in Bugatti suede and of course Reggie’s own graphic applied to the side panel.
It’s our attention to detail and ability to deliver a truly custom finished product that seems to work so well for Reggie. He’s since dubbed his bike, ‘The Mutt Wiler’, and it joins his collection of other larger bikes and cars back home.
While this pokey little demon is ideal as his street bike, Reggie has also delivered one of his bigger machines up to HQ ready for some Mutt-ification, his pack of Mutt’s looks set to grow…
