Mutt Motorcycles Meets Barbour International

THE MUTT Q&A WITH BARBOUR INTERNATIONAL

We recently welcomed the guys from Barbour International into the workshop to hang out, check out some of our bikes and learn a bit more about what we do. We collaborated with Barbour last year, this time they wanted to talk to us in a bit more depth about how we’ve grown from some tinkering in the back of a garage, to a thriving scene of accessible customs. Finding a quiet time in-between builds, we sat among the spanners to run through a Q&A with the famous British brand.

In the short film below, you’ll hear us talk about how we set up Mutt Motorcycles and constantly strive to make the custom bike scene more accessible. By applying Benny’s building skills to lower cc bikes, we carved a niche for ourselves centred on riding retro-style bikes with friends. The good times, the noise, the road trips.

Effectively, Mutt was born from the Boneshaker Custom shop where the guys got together out of hours to build bikes and hang out. The Mutt concept was essentially about making custom bikes accessible and attracting new riders in to the scene. We worked tirelessly on developing the concept because we totally believed in it, not just as a pure business plan but as a lifestyle choice and as a result, our tight-knit collective has grown in a big way. It’s very rewarding to be bringing motorcycle manufacturing back to Birmingham, where the great British bikes were built.

Traditionally, bike culture might have seemed difficult to enter with the scene appearing a little closed off and custom bikes often being eye-wateringly expensive. We’ve been working to break down those barriers and make the motorcycling scene and culture much more approachable. As we open more stores in the UK and internationally, we plan to grow Mutt into a serious player in this sector with that continued focus on building easy to handle, low cc, custom, retro-style bikes.

We’ve got a lot in common with Barbour, a British brand with solid roots. We can't say too much right now, but keep your eye out for an upcoming Barbour X Mutt collaboration that will be released early next year. Now check out that video…
