Now for something a little different from the House of Mutt, for all you beautiful freaks this is our brand new Mutt Super-4. The Super-4 differs from his Mutt brothers in a striking kinda way and that is, of course, that eye-popping paintwork and beautiful chrome finish. That doesn’t mean this bike is just a pretty boy though, he shares a lot of attributes with rest of the Mutts in the kennel.
There ain’t nothing skinny about the Super-4 but what we can tell you is that the Super-4 runs on whopping 120-90-18 nobbly tyres front and rear, tyres so wide that we had to make an extra-wide front mudguard just to cover it.
CHROME & FLAKE
As with all of the Mutts, the Super-4 rolls on 18” wheels but with a little twist. This puppy has chrome rims and stainless steel spokes as standard. To continue with the custom vibe we went for narrow chrome handlebars and black diamond pattern grips with a matching diamond pattern low profile seat.
When it comes to colour the Super-4 stands alone, resplendent in that beautiful micro flake, reminiscent of the first superbikes from the land of the rising sun. The shortened rear aluminium mudguard is finished in raw brushed aluminium along with the wide front mudguard. Chrome shocks keep the bike firmly planted on the road and our full brushed finish stainless steel exhaust system emits that unmistakable deep thump that you will only hear from a Mutt.
Brushed aluminium indicators with dark smoked lenses come as standard along with an upgraded chrome halogen headlight and our LED aluminium taillight lights up the large posterior of this little chunky beauty.
As with all of the Mutt 250 fleet, the EFI offers instant power off the mark and great fuel efficiency. The time-proven engine has great bottom-end torque and puts a genuine fun-loving smile on your face.
Bosch ABS is fitted as standard which offers excellent stopping power and a much safer ride than most bikes at this price point. Mutts also feature a Fuel Vapour Recovery System (FVRS), this takes evaporated fuel vapour, usually lost into the air, and stores it in a carbon filter for use when next starting the bike. Not only saving the planet but saving your precious pennies and preventing your garage from stinking of petrol.
2 CLASSIC COLOUR WAYS
All new Mutt’s have few little subtle upgrades that you may not notice at first but take a closer look and you'll see some nifty little touches you won't see on other bikes.
First off, we have new LED indicators hewn from a solid block of aluminium by the process of CNC and mounted on a machined stainless steel arm. We’ve also now got machined aluminium headlight brackets too, that set up makes for a pretty tidy front end.
Moving back a bit we get to the handlebar clamps, we now have fully CNC'd clamps coated in a super durable hard anodised black finish.
As always with Mutt Motorcycles we use the skills we learned building one off custom motorcycles and machined aluminium is one of those cool processes that gives a motorcycle a true custom look. Machined fork caps and head stem nut, once again coated in a beautiful anodised finish, combined with the new speedometer surround this provides a beautifully finished view when glancing down at your speed.
One of our favourite new touches requires a bit more scrutiny, kneel down and take a look at the motor, we have a new CNC oil filter cap but look a little closer and you'll see some new machined valve covers on top of the engine reminiscent of 60's and 70's Brit bikes. That’s a little detail not everyone sees straight away but we like it.Finally, we get to the chunky little posterior of a Mutt and you'll see four beautifully machine CNC nuts holding the rear shocks on.
We've also been busy with some sheet metal work, we've designed a brand new angular sump guard and matching rear master cylinder cover giving the bikes a lower slung more aggressive look, Bruce Wayne would be proud of them.
